POMSoX UPDATE

LOCAL STOCKS

The domestic bourse closed lower yesterday with BSP, CCP and OSH shed 4.87 percent, 0.56 percent and 6.66 percent respectively. OSH downbeat was tracking a 10 percent fall in production this calendar year after delivering 2009 output. Other stocks remain unchanged as of yesterday’s trade.

The market this morning may open flat at back of international bourses assimilating worse than expected US employment data causing a weak start. The pre – open phase of market, has offers for HIG and CGA lined at 95t and 61t respectively. Our kina this morning is buying aussie at 0.4357 and selling at 0.3944.

NEWS
OHS released its 4th quarter production report yesterday, with output of 2.2 mmmboe which is 6 percent higher than the third quarter. Annual production for the year was 8.1mmboe. This is 6 percent below 2008 levels.

POMSoX UPDATE

LOCAL STOCKS

The local market edged mildly higher with BSP and HIG on the upswing closing at 82t and 95t respectively, while OSH, NBO and MGO closed unchanged. IOC on NYSE shed 7.59 percent yesterday to close at US$68.82.

The market this morning may open high on the back of strong finish from the offshore markets last night, although concerns about economic worries in China still remain. OSH is expected to release today the fourth quarter production report.

KSI was up yesterday, adding 8.46 points to close slightly higher at 6,803.15. The kina is buying aussie at 0.4337 and is selling at 0.3926.

LOCAL STOCKS

The market closed active with a reasonable turnover as the KSi ended 2.19 percent to 6812. BSP lost territory by 1.20 percent while NBO gained K1.60 to close at K19.00. IOC on the NYSE ended at last night at $79.05 with a day’s high of $79.93.

The market has bids for NBO and OSH are as high as K18.50 and K15.00 respectively, as sellers LGL are queued up at K8.50. Our kina is buying 0.4306 aussie and selling at 0.3898 this morning.

PNG NEWS

LGL: Lihir Gold Limited announced its 4th Quarter results with fourth successive record annual gold production, up 27% to an historical 1.12 million ounces output and total cash costs at $397/oz for the full year.

LOCAL STOCKS

The local market closed on another calm note on thin volumes; BSP finished steady at K0.83 with NBO and OSH ending weaker by 3.33 and 2 percent respectively. While on the LSE, NBO lost 7pence to end the day at GBP4.46 which is equivalent to K20.55.

The market this morning is expected to open weaker on the back of negative leads from the overseas markets; with CCP offers are available at K1.75 whereas bids for CPL are as high as K2.60. The kina is selling aussie at 0.3905 this morning.

Thursday saw the bourse close active with reasonable volumes changing hands for LGL, as OSH jumped 2 percent yesterday to close at K15.30; No news from the economic front, while on the commodities gold and oil ended higher.

Sellers for BSP and HIG are lined up at a low K0.83 and K0.95 respectively. With our kina buying 0.4288 and selling 0.3881 aussie this morning.

LOCAL STOCKS

KSi advanced 3.48 percent to end at 6965 points on light volumes yesterday, with LGL closing stronger tracking higher commodity prices, while BSP and OSH finished steady at K0.84 and K15.00 respectively. IOC slid 2.57 percent to close at $72.82 on reasonable volumes.

The market in its pre-open phase today, has sellers available for BSP at K0.83, while bids for LGL are at a high K8.00. The trend is expected to continue as the week progresses with positive leads from the overseas markets.

The local market opened the week weaker on thin volumes with BSP closed at K0.83 while LGL slid 2.5 percent to end at K7.80, as OSH finished unchanged at K15.00. KSi lost 68 points to close at 6731 points.

Market this morning in its pre open phase has sellers available at K8.50 while bids for NBO are as high as K18.00. Our kina is buying 0.4212 and selling aussie at 0.3813.

LOCAL STOCKS

The local bourse closed slightly lower with CCP and HIG closing weaker at K1.76 and K0.93 respectively. While LGL ended steady at K8.00. IOC in the NYSE $76.20 on reasonable volumes.

In the opening phase of the market this morning has bids for LGL at a high K8.00 and HIG has buyers are lined up at K0.93. While in currency news, Kina is buying 0.4235 and selling 0.3834 aussie.

LOCAL STOCKS

Yesterday saw the bourse closed relatively active with light volumes changing hands for NBO and OSH; BSP lost some territory finishing the day at K0.83, while CCP closed marginally higher at K1.77. On the NYSE saw IOC end at $76.20 with a day’s high of $77.05.

The market may finish stronger on positive leads from markets overnight. BSP has shares available at a low K0.84 while LGL bids are queued at K7.50. Our kina is selling aussie at 0.3791.

LOCAL STOCKS

Wednesday saw the local index close higher by 5 percent to 6797 points. OSH tracked stronger commodity prices to close higher at K15.00 on reasonable volumes. Whereas the others finished unchanged with CCP registering trades at K1.76.
Last night in the commodities markets, had all the base metals finished up while crude fell $1.15 to end at $79.64 per barrel.

Today may see the market open flat with mixed leads from the overseas markets but should close stronger as the week closes after optimism in earnings of the local companies. BSP shares are available at a low K0.84.

LOCAL STOCKS

Tuesday saw the KSi rose 148 points to 6467, with OSH advancing 7.43 percent to close at K13.00 while others finished unchanged. CCP slid 0.56 percent to finish at K1.76. The commodities had a negative day with all the base metals closing weaker, with gold closing at $1128 per ounce.

The market today has offers available for CPL at K2.60 while bids for NGE are as high as K0.36 on the local bourse while on the ASX its trading at 15 cents.

The bourse again saw another relatively active day with reasonable trades going through for BSP at K0.84 , while HIG registered a close at K0.95. KSi rose 46 points to close at 6853 points. On the ASX market saw HIG 0.385 cents.

This morning may see the market to open flat with bids for LGL are as high as K8.00 while NBO buying stands at K17.40.

LOCAL STOCKS

The KSi was down by 4.12 percent to 6,537 with most of the stocks traded closing weaker HIG and NBO fell 11.11 percent respectively. The only gainer on the day was CPL moving 6 percent to close at K2.60. IOC lost 26 cents on the NYSE to end at US$83.44.

In resources, metals rose for a fourth straight session, likewise oil and natural gas rallying amid cold weather conditions across the Northern Hemisphere. Gold was up 1.5 percent supported by weakness in the USD.

The market today may open flat with mixed leads from the international markets; sellers for HIG are at a low K0.95 while LGL bidders are lined up at K8.00. Our Aussie Kina sell rate stands at 0.3832 this morning.

LOCAL STOCKS

Generally, all the markets closed higher riding on stronger manufacturing activity around the world and firmer oil prices. The local bourse on the other hand finished slightly lower by 0.32 points to 6815 with CGA being the only mover sliding 1.61 percent to end at K0.61.

On the resources front, the base metals were all up with reasonable gains; gold advanced 2.13 percent to US$1120 per ounce and likewise did oil edging over the US$80mark to US$81.70 per barrel.

The market this morning is expected to continue its upward trend however, on light volumes. Offers for BSP and CCP are available at K0.85 and K1.77.

LOCAL STOCKS

Last Thursday saw the bourse closed the year lower and on thin volumes. BSP and OSH ended trading, advancing 6.25 and 11.11 percent respectively; while the others finished unchanged. Sellers for NBO closed the market at a low K17.40. IOC in NYSE closed US$77.17

Commodity markets ended 2009 on a high with US crude finishing at US$79.36 reaching a high of US$80 barrel. While Gold ended at US$1097.33 per ounce.

This morning may see the market open lower due to weaker leads from overseas. The pre open phase of the market this has bids for BSP at a high K0.84 while offers are available for CCP as low as K1.77.
